Wedding events for all:
FRIDAY: REHEARSAL DINNER. Weddings go by too quickly. Come enjoy dinner plus the bride and groom's favorite selections of desserts. It would do our hearts good to spend quality time with you. Attire is dressy-casual. (6 PM)
Please note: An optional early check-in for Shocco rooms is at 4 PM on Friday for those who wish to arrive early and get settled before the rehearsal dinner.
FRIDAY: TIME OF WORSHIP. We are positively overflowing with joy and want to thank God for bringing us together! The best way we know how to express that is spending our last night as two single people worshipping our Savior with family and friends. (7:30 PM)
SATURDAY: BRUNCH & PRAYER WITH THE GROOM. There will be a complimentary light brunch for Friday’s overnight guests. Luke would also love to spend time in prayer on the morning of the wedding with anyone who cares to join. (Brunch offered 7-10 AM.)
*Provided meals for overnight guests include Friday’s rehearsal dinner, Saturday’s brunch, and Saturday’s wedding reception dinner. For a list of the bride and groom’s local restaurant recommendations please see "Local food" list below.
Hotels & lodging
Shocco is generously offering discounted rooms to our guests! Very limited RV spots are available as well. We cannot guarantee lodging for walk-ins after the wedding.
For info, talk to our wedding coordinator and Shocco rep: Adrienne White, 256-299-0339, email@example.com.
Alternatively, there are off-campus hotel options in Oxford, Alabama (about 20 minutes from Shocco). We hear good things about the Hampton Inn & Suites and the Courtyard by Marriott. Note: We don't particularly suggest Talladega hotels.
Honeymoon fund & registry
We'll be honeymooning in Italy then coming back to our new little rental home in Moody, Alabama, just outside of Birmingham. Our favorite gifts are those that help us get to Italy!
We appreciate you all and anything you may provide to help us begin our new life together!
Vibe & dress code
We're planning a simple, folky ceremony with a lakeside view and a campfire reception under the stars.
Weather permitting, this will be an outdoor celebration in late autumn.
So, ditch the sequins, ruffles, and the fancy shoes that pinch your feet. Take it down a notch to the sweet spot we like to call "autumn cozy." We're living in that world of cable-knit, corduroy, and hanging out by the fire.
These days we're inclined to photograph all the big moments - and sometimes in the process we sacrifice enjoying them. "Unplugged" means guests are respectfully asked to have no cameras or devices out during the ceremony. No cameras, phones, iPads, etc. We've hired professionals for our celebration so that you're free to be fully engaged in the moment with us. We promise to share all the incredible images with you later!
After the first dance, feel free to whip out those gadgets and Instagram away. #lukemelody #fallwedding #yolo
Are kids and babies welcome?
Absolutely! We'll have a fun kids' station for little ones. Just please make sure they are corralled appropriately during the ceremony (Cheerios are encouraged).
Parking on the big day
We'll direct guests to the gym parking lot (Ricker Activities Center on the Shocco map). It's a brief walk down some steps to the ceremony. There will be a spot for drop-offs right at the ceremony site. Golf cart shuttles will also be available to help transport folks back and forth.
Please note: Vehicles are not allowed on the grass at Shocco.
